Job Description

Our client, an independent publishing house based in Kent, are on the hunt for a Business Development Director!

• Meeting set KPIs for sales activities:
❖ Maintain high levels of scheduled sales calls and visits
❖ Proposals

• Developing new business
• Maintaining existing business
• Overseeing and understanding targets for the brand, product and individual, and implementing plans to achieve targets
• Attending client meetings and presentations
• Undertaking competitor analysis - monitoring competitor strategy, portfolio and media mix, to ensure the RPL strategy is ahead of the competition
• Identifying contra agreements
• Writing proposals and identifying solutions for clients
• Ensuring client expectations are fulfilled correctly and smoothly through the internal processes, resolving issues in a professional manner internally and externally
• Issuing campaign performance reports to clients with summary of performance, identifying potential future opportunities and improvements
• Developing and implementing new products and opportunities which will benefit the brand to support the growth and success of the company
• Attending relevant RPL or external exhibitions/ conferences - international travel may be required
• Attending training and development/ continue to develop sales and technical skills
Administration (including Finance)
• Maintaining accurate company records including but not limited to CRM, competitor analysis and expenses
• Undertaking regular competitor analysis and monitor advertising levels. Reviewing and analysing the competitors spend in each product to devise and implement a win strategy.
• Accurate and consistent personal revenue forecasting
• Reporting of personal performance (prep for 1-2-1s)
• Creating travel plans, meetings and opportunities
Management
• Ensuring the team are effectively utilising the CRM to capture accurate data and managing team reports on the CRM – use the date and information to make informed decisions
• Understanding the brand performance and accurately forecasting the outcome
• Building and leading the strategic direction of the brand with your market experience, knowledge and business acumen
• Engaging with all stakeholders to ensure that targets and business milestones are achieved
• Coaching and guiding team members: sales techniques, internal process, industry, systems, products, planning & approach
• Motivating and leading a positive and professional sales culture
• Leading meeting and discussions when opportunity is provided

• Proven business to business media sales experience across the full product portfolio: print, digital, events & conferences
• Commercial experience and commercial acumen to drive business/ profit growth

Skills
• Excellent IT skills - Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
• Knowledge and use of CRMs
• Communication (written & verbal) – accuracy and professional
• Building and leading strong and effective relationships to ensure timely and accurate information sharing enables all parties to achieve success
