Job Summary

The role involves selling print, inserts and digital ads to meet sales targets on a monthly basis, meeting key clients including advertising agencies and brands, hitting outbound sales call quotas, maintaining existing client relationships whilst seeking out new business opportunities and attending nationwide industry events when required.


Job Description

Our client is looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Business Development Manager to join their successful, award-winning publishing business.

They are a leading provider of magazines, digital media and live events for membership organisations.

You will have heard of many of their clients, including:

The National Trust (for which they represent the largest circulating consumer magazine in the UK), The RSCPA, The British Horse Society, The Federation of Small Businesses (for which they publish the largest circulating business magazine in the UK), as well as over 40 further clients in the B2B and consumer space.

Working as part of their Consumer & Countryside division, as the successful candidate you will be an eager, ambitious, reliable and well-organised individual with a passion for selling.

The role involves selling print, inserts and digital ads to meet sales targets on a monthly basis, meeting key clients including advertising agencies and brands, hitting outbound sales call quotas, maintaining existing client relationships whilst seeking out new business opportunities and attending nationwide industry events when required.

As well as keen interest in and understanding of the rural sector, you will be able to demonstrate previous success in delivering the following:

A proven track record of working in a media sales environment, experience of both account management and successful new business development

Good understanding of the publishing industry – ideally in B2B sales

Experience in and understanding of:

Face to face meetings

Market share generation

Selling with research

Selling against competitors

Selling brand extensions

Sales letter/proposal writing

Ability to communicate with and influence all client and agency personnel

Good time management skills with the ability to meet all sales deadlines

Positive attitude to selling and meeting targets/objectives

Self-motivated and able to demonstrate ability to be a team player

Command of basic IT skills

Required Skills
